Fantastic experience if you’re a comic lover. Even if you’re not, the artistry of the creation of comics is similar to going to a modern art museum (in my opinion). There are multiple exhibits for the different categories of comics. I especially liked the one that highlighted Belgian artists. The gift shop was amazing and the library seemed cool, I didn’t have time to visit that, though. The building itself was gorgeous. You can buy tickets at the counter. They made it accessible for people with reduced mobility. They have an alternate entry for one of the exhibits so they can enjoy it. There were a few school groups when I went on a weekday so be prepared for that.
I came here on a whim to kill some time on a cold December day. It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. This comprehensive museum of the Belgium comic book scene was both informative and entertaining. The artwork was just as impressive with the dedicated displays to varying contributors to the Belgium/French comic world. With multiple floors and interactive displays this is a must do if in the area.
Worth visiting on a rainy day to see something new. Overall though it was rather disappointing. There's almost nothing about Tintin and The Smurfs, and in general it feels like a museum stuck in the 90s. Good if you have kids or to take a few nice photos, but other than that I feel it's one of those museums where the shop is more interesting than the exhibition itself. Price: 14€
Perfect little museum with a well presented history on Franco/Belgian comics (Bandes dessiner), you'll find Tintin, Gaston, Spirou. Québec is also very well represented. Closed on Mondays
The Horta building itself is worth a visit. The galerries are full of prints and copies but not much description next to them. Not great for kids either as many images contain nudity. Mixed feelings about it.
