AMAZING!! I cannot not recommend this place. When we were there, there were oddly no kids at all (maybe coz its a weekday) but still there was only a handful of adult visitors/tourists. Families with children, please slot this in your itinery when you're in Belgium or even a day trip from Netherlands. The trains display were absolutely grand. So much care is committed to preserve, upkeep and narrate the history and evolution of trains in the country. 2hrs minimum to sweep the whole area. Well done Train World!
What a hidden gem! We spotted this place on google maps and went to have a look. Absolutely massive with lots of train carriages and interactive bits. We spent about 2 hours wandering through the massive exhibits, looking at trains and learning a little something too. The star of the show is the SNCB Type 12. A glorious futuristic look locomotion. A lot of the carriages you can walk through, look in, or play about with the knobs. Would highly, highly recommend!
I had an absolute blast at Train World in Brussels! The museum is a hidden gem, and I loved how interactive everything is. You can climb aboard the old locomotives, learn about the history of Belgian railways, and even take a virtual ride. The kids were thrilled, but honestly, it was just as fun for me. The building itself is stunning too. Make sure to check it out if you're in the area!
We visited this museum on a Sunday in Feb' 2026 with 2 small children (5 and 7 years old). We spent about 2 hours here. Great museum, lot's of variation, great for kids if they like trains and technical stuff. Lot's of beautiful old train carriages and locomotives to go inside. Some parts are a bit dark so smaller kids might not enjoy that. Bigger than expected, also a small portion outdoors. Was surprised to see that it focuses quite a lot on train related stuff during World War I and II. The cafetaria offers croque monsieurs and soup, it's a bit understaffed though, so be patient if you order food during peak hours. We came by car and parked outside on the street nearby, which is free on a Sunday. Very nice museum, recommended visit!
A great Museum. I went for the first time when I was 6 and loved it; I decided to go back this year to show the museum to my little brother, he loved it as well. This museum is great, accessible to all ages and all audiences, it is interactive and open. We could visit a few of the carriages, a few of the locomotives and learned a lot about trains history.
